So Much More to Tell

So I had to take a day off yesterday because, well, a lot happened the day before. I really want to talk about the birth day and birth time more but it’s still a lot to process and I want to set the stage. As I mentioned, Lara had some issues with the birth as did the baby but everyone is okay.

As for today, Lara is being discharged and we get to go home to see Jaxon. We miss him so much and he’s been such a wonderful little trooper. More on that later.

So the baby will not be coming home with us as she is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She is not in any danger but her sugar is a little low. She is breathing on her own and doing a lot of sleeping. She lost a little weight, down from 6lb 10oz to 6lb 4oz.

So the name. Lara and I spent a lot of time going through names. We used an app, friends and family have contributed suggestions, and we looked through the interwebs. Coming down to three names, we settled on this one:

Ruby.

Ruby is Latin meaning “deep red precious stone“. It’s an older name traditional name that we think has character and sophistication. We hope that it provides a foundation for all that she does.
